Ingredients: 3 cups all-purpose flour; ¼ tsp. salt; 1 tsp. baking soda; 1 T. baking powder; 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature; 2 cups sugar; 4 eggs, whisked lightly; 1¼ cups buttermilk; 1 T. freshly squeezed lemon juice (or orange juice); 1½ tsp. lemon extract (or vanilla extract); ¼ tsp. lemon zest (or orange zest)

2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
½ tsp. vanilla extract
confectioners’ sugar to taste

Beat cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Add confectioners’ sugar to taste. Chill if not using right away or frost cake immediately. (It’s easier to use if you use it right away.)
