Remember last week when I brattily exclaimed, “I want one!” after seeing my auntie Marcy’s Lifefactory glass bottle? Well, guess what? I got one. And guess what else? I have one for one of you, too, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Upon returning from Albany, I started researching Lifefactory, and it came as no surprise that one of the company’s co-founders, Daren Joy, is an award-winning designer and architect.
In a video on the site, Daren briefly discusses his design process and observes that “there is a connection that gets formed almost immediately,” noting that people “know they love [the bottle] right when they first touch it.” Perhaps my reaction wasn’t so bratty after all: the instant desire to have one was simply the sign of successful design.
As I suspected, I am loving my Lifefactory glass bottle. After a week of heavy use, I have yet to open my shoulder bag to find my phone lying in a pool of water — success! — and I have yet to find myself at the sink trying to scrub away a fungal smell from the opening — success! The glass delivers such a clean, pure taste. Moreover, thanks to the silicone sleeve, the bottle has survived several crash tests — the kids are as drawn to the bottle as I am — down our asphalt driveway.
The more I read about the founders and their philosophy, the more taken I become. Pam Marcus, Lifefactory’s other co-founder, worked as a pediatric physical therapist and feeding specialist for 17 years. Her concerns about the presence of harmful chemicals and plastics in infant feeding systems inspired her to create a line of glass baby bottles.
Not only are the bottles BPA-, BPS-, and phthalate-free, they are designed to “perform for years to come” — I love this. The line of bottles now extends to toddlers and adults, but before I start sounding like a bad infomercial, I’ll stop here and let you poke around the Lifefactory site yourself. Go on, that perfect water bottle is just a click away.
Now for the giveaway: Lifefactory will send one of you (US shipping only) one of their beautiful, glass, chemical-free bottles for water, juice and smoothies. Just leave a comment below. I’d love to hear what juices and smoothies you have been concocting these days. I’ve been on a watermelon-agua-fresca kick. On Sunday, I picked up two large watermelons at the Stafford farmers’ market, and, thanks to my new glass bottle, I have been enjoying agua fresca on the go ever since. I have never felt more stylish or hydrated in my life. Thank you, Lifefactory.

- Total Time: 10 minutes

Description
Adapted from: The Garden of Eden

I’ve been on a mango smoothie kick lately – love it for breakfast!
Stawberries, Goji Berries, Bee Pollen, Coconut Oil, Pineapple & water smoothies are my latest smoothie treat. Would love one of these glass water bottles.
There’s been agua fresca in our lives this hot, hot summer, too! Coming up: nectarine smoothies…
My blender is mostly broken so I rarely make smoothies, other than the occasional mango lassi, but I’d definitely carry around water with chopped fresh limes in one of those water bottles!
I want one! I so much prefer glass to plastic…I remember when soda used to only come in glass bottles and it tasted so much better! Now I drink water instead of soda but would much rather drink it from glass! Thanks for letting us know about this great product!
I like to drink cold water with cucumber slices-simple and refreshing! And I have done away with all plastic bottles because of the harmful chemicals they contain, so I’m thrilled to see these beautiful glass drinking bottles!
I’ve been making smoothies, starting with a frozen banana and adding whatever other fresh or frozen fruits and greens I have on hand.
This summer has been the summer of smoothies. I have literally been blending up anything I have on hand! This bottle would be the perfect way to take smoothies on the go!
I drink plain ice water or water with lemon or cucumber or both. I’ve been meaning to try watermelon and coconut water Yum. Thanks for the fun and exciting offer. love your blog.
I usually don’t drink much water or anything else for that matter. I know, I know, I should drink more fluids. But I will try to make more aquas frescas. I do make them for my husband who just loves agua de Melon.
I’m loving filtered water with fresh Vietnamese mint from my garden. These bottles look amazing. I’d love to win one!
I have been “locally sourcing” my morning smoothies this past week right out of my own backyard….arapaho blackberries, lambsquarter leaves, apple mint leaves, honey from my bees, rhubarb stems and some kefir (OK, this did come from the store, as I don’t have any dairy animals). I try to use whatever I can gather from my yard or what ever is in season at our local farmer’s market. Smoothies this time of year are so refreshing and nutritious without a lot of fuss!! I currently use recycled juice or ice tea bottles for my smoothies on the go; having a really practical, stylish and safe Lifefactory glass bottle to use and brag about to others would be a lot of fun!!
I have to ask, Albany… NY? I live near there.
I drink water. sometimes with fresh mint, sometimes fresh lemon too.
iced green tea with honey an mint.
I enjoy making berry smoothies with spinach and chia seeds.
I love making my own smoothies for breakfast, but also like juicing fruits and veggies during the day. Then plain old water other times.
Thank you for this recipe, it looks amazing! I’m pregnant and love to have other options to drink besides water and plain juice! The smoothie I’ve been making in the morning is a Wildberry Smoothie: 1/2 cup vanilla bean yogurt, 3/4 cup orange juice, 1 medium banana and 2 cups frozen mixed berries.
One of my faves is one I picked up in Brazil — blended water, pineapple and mint. SO refreshing.
I’m a big fan of peach and berry smoothies right now. I love summertime fruit!
I have been making smoothies for years, originally with vanilla-flavored yogurt (Stonyfield) plus a splash of orange juice, a ripe banana with frozen strawberries and blueberries. Last winter I transitioned to a non-dairy diet for a while and discovered almond milk. Now my smoothies use almond milk, banana, frozen peaches and blueberries with a couple of tablespoons of ground flax seed and chia seeds. Not as sweet but power-packed and filling! P.S. Love your Aunt Marcy!!!
Living in an extremely dry, hot climate makes water drinking a daily imperitive so leaving the house without a good sized bottle of water is nuts! The glass may be a bit heavier but I can see advantages in keeping everything sanitary. Plus, that bottle with it’s cute silicone sleeve is just so cute! I want one!
Green smoothies! Spinach, avocado, mango, greek yogurt… so yummy!
I think these are great! I am currently on a kick drinking apple cinnamon water and it is SO yummy and refreshing! In a glass 2 qt pitcher I cut up in slices 2 apples (Fuji are great) then add 2 cinnamon sticks. Cover with water and let sit in fridge overnight. Then pour off your water in your bottle and enjoy. You can refill this 3-4 times before needing fresh apples and cinnamon.
Grapefruit juice…fresh!!! So tart and perfect!!!
I’ve been mixing steel cut oats, cinnamon, almond milk, and greek yogurt up in the fridge overnight, then adding oj, frozen mixed berries, and spinach to make a smoothie in the mornings. Delicious and FILLING!
The prickly-pear is ripening in Southern California and they are available for picking in the wild. Rub off the prickles in the sand, or burn them off, or wear gloves and remove the skin with a knife. You can purée and freeze them in batches; it will make a less-sweet version of a watermelon agua fresca.
I love making iced tea and lemonade! These would be great at the beach.
I am big fan of good old fashioned lemonade with a twist– like adding strawberries or blueberries.
Oh my. These look lovely. I’ve been sticking to water lately, but I may have to try this agua fresca recipe. I recently came across an old recipe for blackberry limeade that looked really good too.
I’ve been working to no avail to mimic the wild berry smoothie from panera! (I think the problem is I’m trying to use real fresh fruit, and they use a syrup.)
