Watermelon Agua Fresca with Lime and Mint

Remember last week when I brattily exclaimed, “I want one!” after seeing my auntie Marcy’s Lifefactory glass bottle? Well, guess what? I got one. And guess what else? I have one for one of you, too, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Upon returning from Albany, I started researching Lifefactory, and it came as no surprise that one of the company’s co-founders, Daren Joy, is an award-winning designer and architect.
In a video on the site, Daren briefly discusses his design process and observes that “there is a connection that gets formed almost immediately,” noting that people “know they love [the bottle] right when they first touch it.” Perhaps my reaction wasn’t so bratty after all: the instant desire to have one was simply the sign of successful design.
As I suspected, I am loving my Lifefactory glass bottle. After a week of heavy use, I have yet to open my shoulder bag to find my phone lying in a pool of water — success! — and I have yet to find myself at the sink trying to scrub away a fungal smell from the opening — success! The glass delivers such a clean, pure taste. Moreover, thanks to the silicone sleeve, the bottle has survived several crash tests — the kids are as drawn to the bottle as I am — down our asphalt driveway.
The more I read about the founders and their philosophy, the more taken I become. Pam Marcus, Lifefactory’s other co-founder, worked as a pediatric physical therapist and feeding specialist for 17 years. Her concerns about the presence of harmful chemicals and plastics in infant feeding systems inspired her to create a line of glass baby bottles.
Not only are the bottles BPA-, BPS-, and phthalate-free, they are designed to “perform for years to come” — I love this. The line of bottles now extends to toddlers and adults, but before I start sounding like a bad infomercial, I’ll stop here and let you poke around the Lifefactory site yourself. Go on, that perfect water bottle is just a click away.
Now for the giveaway: Lifefactory will send one of you (US shipping only) one of their beautiful, glass, chemical-free bottles for water, juice and smoothies. Just leave a comment below. I’d love to hear what juices and smoothies you have been concocting these days. I’ve been on a watermelon-agua-fresca kick. On Sunday, I picked up two large watermelons at the Stafford farmers’ market, and, thanks to my new glass bottle, I have been enjoying agua fresca on the go ever since. I have never felt more stylish or hydrated in my life. Thank you, Lifefactory.

My husband just made beet and greens juice…yum? But I’ve been enjoying blackberry banana smoothies this summer…really yum. Love the bottles.
Peach and blueberry smoothies.
I’ve been making cucumber mint slushies this summer – blend 2 c cucumber (peeled and seeded), 1 c peach juice, 1/4 c mint leaves, squeeze of lime juice, couple teaspoons sugar, and pinch of salt with ice. Would taste great out of a Lifefactory bottle 🙂
I made watermelon granita two summers ago, and there was so much watermelon everywhere I sort of have been scared away from putting fruit in the blender. I do make a lovely mint iced tea, though.
We are just strawberry and banana smoothie people here lately…that is all the 5 year will drink! But, I would pretend it was so much more in one of those bottles!
I’ve started making citrus-infused water. It’s so refreshing on a hot summer day.
i’m obsessed with sparkling water mixed with pineapple juice. so yummy!
I’ve been on a shrub kick lately. Right now my favorite is cranberry and apple cider vinegar.
You’ve gotta love a great water bottle. It’s the simplest pleasures we get excited about!
I’ve been making lots of beautiful waters infused with all the local fruits that are finally ripe for the picking-strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

I’ve been drinking lots of water infused with our wonderful local fruits that are finally ripe-strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries.
Coconut yogurt with mango and watermelon . Fantastic.
I’m really into cucumber & mint water right now!
I’m pretty boring when it comes to drinks. I love water. It is my go to drink at all times. Occasionally I’ll have a fresh lemonade or unsweetened tea, but thats about it.
I love to add raspberries to pure water. It tastes great and looks so pretty having those berries floating around. It will look great in a Lifefactory bottle!
Peach + Strawberry = One of my favorites and Strawberry + Banana + Spinach = my favorite way to get my green stuff in without making a salad!
As someone who is lucky enough to live in a city with not only safe drinking water, but water that is actually delicious, I would love to drink it from a glass bottle that I could carry around with me all day and would enjoy showing off. I don’t like to drink water cold, just pure and healthy and from glass, maybe sometimes with a ginger green tea bag swimming in it.
Good luck to everyone! Thanks for the effort to make this giveaway happen, Alex.
My herb garden has been taken over by sweet mint and chocolate mint so I’ve been doing a simple lemon and mint water a lot lately! DELICIOUS!!
I drink filtered water enhanced with lemons, limes, cucumbers, mint, berries, or whatever fruit I have on hand and stevia. It could be enhanced even more if I drink it from a Lifefactory bottle! Thanks for the chance to win one.
These sound awesome! I feel like I can never get the plastic ones clean!
I’ve been making smoothies out of whatever fruits and veges I happen to have in the fridge/freezer. Throw in some fruit like peaches/pineapple/berries, handful of greens like kale/spinach, a cucumber, and a squeeze of lime. Sounds odd but really just tastes like a fruit smoothie.
Been loving all the fresh fruits of the season. Love making drinks that have berries, pineapple and mango fruits in them… very healthy too. But most of all LOVE my water!! Water goes everywhere with me…would love one of these bottles to carry with me at all times! Thanks!
I’m not much of a smoothie drinker and my drink of choice is usually water or seltzer. (thank you, Soda Stream!) These bottles are fabulous! I love that they don’t get that mucky smell and the design is great too!
One of my favorite waters is pure filtered water laced with fresh (or frozen) blueberries and fresh orange slices. SO fresh! It would be great to have a “take along” Lifefactory bottle so I could bring healthy drinks with me to work. Thank you for the contest…and for your great recipes!
I usually do a banana-berry smoothies when I blow out the door. My daughter had one of these bottle and I’d take it every morning! However she moved out taking her bottle 🙁 so I’m back to plastic cups. Your recipe sounds yummy, I’ll have to give it a try. After all who doesn’t love watermelon!
I’ve been adding spinach to every fruit smoothie I make for the kids. I sometimes add chia seeds as well!
My five year old and I are satisfied Lifefactory owners but my husband is envious of our cool bottles. It would be wonderful if he could have his own!
Watermelon agua fresca = yum.
frozen banana, soymilk, and cinamon for breakfast
Strawberry lemonade and peach ice tea have been my staples this summer!
I’ve been making iced matcha green tea lattes, but I am thinking about branching out to more fruity drinks 😉
sounds like a nice compliment to my VitaMix!
I have been on a peach iced tea and iced Jasmine green tea kick lately. That aqua fresca looks really good too 🙂
I love plain old water with lemon…. but I might try a smoothie if I won this amazing bottle!!
