A Few Gift Ideas From Food52’s Provisions // Plus A Giveaway: Hedley & Bennett Apron

Hi Friends,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I write today with a few gift ideas from the beautiful kitchen and home shop, Provisions by Food52. If any of you have visited the Provisions shop you’ve likely struggled to pull yourself away, to stay focused, to resist buying just a teensy tiny something.
From vintage pie servers to letterpress coasters to fluted stoneware tart pans, every item is striking in both form and function, screaming: You need me in your kitchen. Immediately.
It can be overwhelming, but what is especially nice about the Provisions site is the Collections page, which will help you stay focused. There are collections dedicated to individuals — The Baker, The New Cook, The Cocktail Connoisseur, The Gardener, The Coffee Lover — but also to subjects — stocking stuffers, cookbooks, lighting. And, of course, there are a selection of items that can be found exclusively on Provisions.
UPDATE: Giveaway is closed. Congrats to Renee. Finally, Provisions is generously giving one of you the Hedley and Bennett apron (yes, the apron lady’s apron!) pictured above. Leave a comment below to enter the giveaway. Please tell me the greatest success/biggest hit of your Thanksgiving Day feast. Hope you all are taking a break from the kitchen.
PS: What to do with all of those leftovers.

A few favorites I have collected over the years: placemats (seen in this post), vintage silverware, bud vases, cutting boards, mini bowls:
This is that Turk Forged Iron Fry Pan (gift #1) with the Canal House Chicken with Lemon from the Genius Recipes Cookbook (gift #2). I swear this pan browns and crisps meat better than any other,
and it makes the best eggs,:
and you barely have to clean it:
A quick wipe with a paper towel usually does the job. Occasionally I need to give it a gentle scrub.
I love my cake bunting:
and my PieBox:

The biggest hit of Thanksgiving was the stuffing.
Just one success? We were ON this year. From the randomly made no recipe apple pie (using up extra pie crust) to Real Simples sourdough sage stuffing (https://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/recipe-collections-favorites/seasonal/sourdough-sage-stuffing-bacon-pecans-0) it was ALL SO GOOD.
My personal favorite was the made from scratch green bean casserole. No cans of soup here! Couldn’t find the recipe but it was amazing… Complete with crunchy onion topping… Yum!
I’ve been looking for an apron. The Hedley and Bennett apron looks wonderful.
Thanks for the heads up with the Provisions website. Lots of goodies to be found.
Does going out to dinner count as a success/hit? It may seem like cheating but it’s definitely a good way to enjoy your family and loved ones without the stress or mess.
We were supposed to have Thanksgiving at my MILs, but a huge snowstorm made her power go out. So the biggest hit was how everyone pulled together and transferred the feast to my house at the last minute. Foodwise,I loved the artichoke dip that accidentally had 2xs the lemon juice but I somehow could not stop eating (a providential mistake) and the pumpkin pie with carmel praline sauce from Smitten Kitchen. Going to eat some more right now:

I made chestnut ice cream, which was really good, but I was even more excited about the make-ahead whipped cream I brought. Just adding some mascarpone to the cream keeps it from deflating all day (and also makes it extra delicious)! https://foodapparel.com/make-ahead-whipped-cream/
My cousin’s girlfriend made a sweet onion pie that was absolutely to-die for!
I’m not hosting Thanksgiving until Sunday, so we’ll see which successes/failures I achieve!
I read somewhere that we eat with our eyes first…maybe it was a toddler cook book, and every time I browse your blog, I get THAT feeling…guess us grown up’s eat with our eyes too!
Fortunately for me, we forwent the Turkey this year and did a roast chicken! With 2 little ones under 4, it just seemed easier 😉
I had never roasted chicken before and surprised myself and the family
with rosemary/lime roasted chicken. We had leftovers for chicken and cheese quesadillas for dinner and the rest for spinach/chicken fried rice for lunch today. Also, made broth with the left over carcass!!
the chocolate swirled pumpkin cheesecake!
I made Joy the Baker’s sweet potato pie with Buttermilk All Butter Crust and it completely out-shined the pumpkin and pecan pies! The filling is so silky and smooth and the crust was super flaky with melt in your mouth buttery goodness! Delicious.
Also P.S. I love provisions! I got the dried lavender and sage wreath for this fall and it has been making my house smell amazing!
Biggest hit was great grandmas stuffing …amazing !
I was so inspired by Rose Lawrence’s making pie dough video, I skipped the food processor this year and my pie dough “shattered!”
Pasteles & my mama’s stuffing. Yummm
My mothers never fail apple crisp that was a big hit with everyone, but especially with my grand-daughter!
Wow, everything is really nice. We are simply thankful for food.
great gift inspiration – thank you! hope you had a lovely turkey day!
My biggest success this year was getting the mashed potatoes juuust right.
My biggest hit was my almond tart which slightly burned so I didn’t take it anywhere, and had it all for myself.
Thanksgiving’s biggest hit… for me it’s always the combination of stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy 🙂
Don’t laugh – but the best part was the store bought (local health food store) pumpkin pie! My family is shocked, as I pride myself in my baking ability but wasn’t able to get to the pies this year. And I even had a piece for breakfast this morning! 🙂
Biggest hit this year — my sister’s crème brûlée (first time)!!
Biggest hit on Turkey Day was the company! Always thankful to be able to share our family and friends on special days such as Thanksgiving. But I must say that all the food was “delicious” too!!!!
Greatest success was the pumpkin pie, a Food52-featured genius recipe from Meta Given. It wasn’t terribly pretty, but it was pretty delicious. 🙂
The biggest hit were my homemade rolls. I pulled out a recipe from long ago and they turned out perfectly. Luckily there are leftover rolls to have with our leftovers! Love the blog!
We tried a new sweet potato recipe this year – mashed with a brown butter + pecan glaze. It was incredible.
Impossible to choose! My favorites were hot crab dip, stuffing, and apple pie.
My fried turkey is always a hit. Of course I have to share credit with my Husband who actually frys it. I just season it to perfection. ❤️
My Brussels sprouts gratin was a hit. Gruyere cheese, crumbled bacon… Ah-mazing! 🙂
my biggest hit this thanksgiving was the sweet potato biscuits that ended up being more like drop biscuits than the soft layers of flaky goodness i was going for. but weirdly, everyone loved them and they were the only item on the table to be completely finished by the end of the meal. go figure!
Couldn’t get to my daughter’s with the lake effect snow warning, so I made a pan of stuffing, inserted some turkey slices from a Stauffer’s TV dinner and added some chicken both. Made cranberry sauce, and the best were the baked sweet potato wedges coated with ginger, paprika, brown sugar, cayenne pepper and olive oil.
We had roast duck; the most delicious side dish was red cabbage braised with onion, apple, brown sugar and balsamic vinegar.
