A Few Gift Ideas From Food52’s Provisions // Plus A Giveaway: Hedley & Bennett Apron

Hi Friends,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I write today with a few gift ideas from the beautiful kitchen and home shop, Provisions by Food52. If any of you have visited the Provisions shop you’ve likely struggled to pull yourself away, to stay focused, to resist buying just a teensy tiny something.
From vintage pie servers to letterpress coasters to fluted stoneware tart pans, every item is striking in both form and function, screaming: You need me in your kitchen. Immediately.
It can be overwhelming, but what is especially nice about the Provisions site is the Collections page, which will help you stay focused. There are collections dedicated to individuals — The Baker, The New Cook, The Cocktail Connoisseur, The Gardener, The Coffee Lover — but also to subjects — stocking stuffers, cookbooks, lighting. And, of course, there are a selection of items that can be found exclusively on Provisions.
UPDATE: Giveaway is closed. Congrats to Renee. Finally, Provisions is generously giving one of you the Hedley and Bennett apron (yes, the apron lady’s apron!) pictured above. Leave a comment below to enter the giveaway. Please tell me the greatest success/biggest hit of your Thanksgiving Day feast. Hope you all are taking a break from the kitchen.
PS: What to do with all of those leftovers.

A few favorites I have collected over the years: placemats (seen in this post), vintage silverware, bud vases, cutting boards, mini bowls:
This is that Turk Forged Iron Fry Pan (gift #1) with the Canal House Chicken with Lemon from the Genius Recipes Cookbook (gift #2). I swear this pan browns and crisps meat better than any other,
and it makes the best eggs,:
and you barely have to clean it:
A quick wipe with a paper towel usually does the job. Occasionally I need to give it a gentle scrub.
I love my cake bunting:
and my PieBox:

We are big on sweets. We drizzled cranberry sauce on everything and finished the night with 3 slices of chocolate mousse pie. It was perfect.
I brought rolls this year (your recipe!) and crushed it. Someone hid the basket when 4 rolls were promptly eaten within 5 minutes of my arrival. I guess I owe you a great big thanks!
The biggest hit this year was the pumpkin cheesecake I made using a Cook’s Illustrated recipe. It was a lot of work, but oh-so-delicious and worth it!
I really can’t take credit for any of it since my mother did most of the cooking but the turkey was really juicy and her mashed potatoes went pretty quickly.
I took a leap and made croissants for the first time–the table was a buttery, floury mess, but somehow they still came out wonderfully! And delicious for sopping up gravy.
I made a delicious Cranberry-Cherry pie. Definitely a keeper!
My pumpkin apple pie!
We smoked a turkey – great success.
This year I changed out my mom’s sweet stuffing for a more savory version (the first menu change in over 40 years!), and got rave reviews!
Our biggest hits were my future-daughter-in-law’s mashed potatoes and my carrot cake!
A new cranberry & ginger quasi-chutney that was great! The kids loved it – in fact we had it with waffles this morning.
Thanksgiving was a messy success. A new apron will help A LOT for Christmas.
I’ve experimented with elaborate desserts for Thanksgiving before, but this year I stuck to my always-amazing pumpkin pie recipe and it got rave reviews from everyone who ate it.
Biggest success was definitely the turkey! My first time making it alone with the Judy bird recipe from the food 52 site. My fiancé says that this dry brine has changed his life. And first time making gravy ever.
Rosemary spiced cashews
And Parmesan pepper crisps as pre meal nibbles.
Lovely apron!
My son made a savory bread pudding that was delicious!
My green bean casserole was a hit. I would love to win this one.
My sister’s homemade cultured butter and yeasty, chewy dinner rolls:) Yum!
Oh and the Canal house cranberry-port gelee. I renamed it nectar from heaven.
Having family together is always such a wonderful thing. My family always comes laden with sides and desserts and there always seems to be a constant change at the kitchen sink as everyone helps with the clean up.
The biggest hit for us this year was the fact that we moved mealtime to supper instead of mid-afternoon. Wow- Sooo much easier for me. PLUS…MORE WINE!!! AND we loved the new sweet potato recipe we tried from Southern Living…Sweet Potato Soldiers…brown butter, bourbon, honey, etc. Delicious!
My biggest Thanksgiving success was brining my turkey with a delicious apple cider brine. It was so moist and the gravy from the drippings was wonderful! We also loved the acorn squash that was tossed with a balsamic and rosemary dressing. Yum! Such a good dinner.
I love Food 52 and Provisions! My biggest Thanksgiving success was the pork loin we made instead of turkey (delicious and so much less stress!), but my favorite dish of the night was the stuffing brought by a guest. Cheers to good friends who are also great cooks!
Thanksgiving is my very favorite holiday. I loved having my three grown children home for a few days and will always consider them my greatest achievement! I made Joanne Chang’s Super-Pumpkiny Pumpkin Pie and oh my was it delicious. That was probably my tastiest success. I am a big fan of Food52 and Provisions.
Biggest crowd pleaser is sometimes the easiest to make – this year’s was corn casserole! Not exactly highbrow but so comforting and delicious 🙂
Dying to see what that pan is like in person! I’m a cast iron aficionado but am drawn to the lighter weight of the carbon steel / forged steel variety!
The first time I made a whole turkey by myself. I was just learning how to cook and thankfully it came out really well!
i made the Andouille & Cornbread dressing from the Food52 website and it was the hit of thanksgiving! They always have such reliable recipes and great photography.
The chicken and the pie. We actually made the squash pie recipe, and it turned out a lot better then our pies usually do! Also the chicken we adapted from a recipe on chicken with vegetables and dijon jus.
Cinnamon roasted sweet potatoes… oh man, I can’t say enough. YUM. My favorite part though was the tag team effort that my husband and I gave to put a delicious first thanksgiving meal as a married couple on the table (er, floor).
Sweet, sweet potatoe casserole with pecan topping
my dutch apple pie!
I made a rum pecan topped cake for Thanksgiving dinner for those who might not like pumpkin or apple pie. Everyone loved the cake and are now insisting I make it for Christmas too. There was no leftover cake…not a crumb.
